Thursday, April 30th, 2009MetroHealth Medical Center announced it is laying off 270 people.
MetroHealth president Mark Moran said that full- and part-time positions are being eliminated, representing 6 percent of the workforce.
One-on-one meetings were being held with 194 employees throughout the day.
The staff reductions are part of the overall reorganization and restructure of MetroHealth operations that began about six months ago
About 50 employees have been laid off during the last several weeks and 130 vacant positions will not be filled.
The hospital said the reductions will have no impact on direct patient care and said most positions are administrative or support positions.
